PMW's design, planting, and farming of the hillside vineyard at Knights Valley exemplifies sustainable agriculture
and resource stewardship. These environmental practices are the model for the proposed Seaview Vineyard, ensuring long-term
resource protection while producing wine grapes of the highest quality.
Some of the examples of PMW's demonstrated commitment to the environment at the Knight's Valley Vineyard include
- removal of cattle from environmentally sensitive stream and mountainside habitat;
- planting of cover crops including native California grasses between vineyard rows to prevent erosion , enhance the
soil and aid PMW's integrated pest management practices;
- planting of nearly 10,000 firs and redwoods to repair the logged slopes and riparian corridor;
- ensuring wildlife access to the restored wetlands;
- installation of cross-slope swales , sedimentation basins and fiber roll sediment barriers in the vineyards to prevent
and control erosion and sedimentation and
- restoration and protection of damaged wetland habitat.
