Security & Privacy

At Peter Michael Winery, we are committed to protecting your privacy.  The winery will not sell, give, lend or otherwise distribute your personal information without your permission to any other person or entity that is not part of the processing or shipping of your wine order, other than the Peter Michael Foundation, as described below.  

The winery’s online ordering and customer service website is hosted by a third party e-commerce vendor.  This vendor uses secure server technology for all transactions on the site. The secure server software encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. In addition, all of your customer data is protected against unauthorized access.  All customer payment card information resides in a secure online vault at a specialized payments processor, OpenEdge, and never resides on the winery’s server, or that of our e-commerce vendor.  OpenEdge facilitates payment without ever releasing the actual card information to the winery or our e-commerce vendor.  OpenEdge is a PCI level 1 validated provider.  This is the highest level of security certification offered in the payment processing industry.

Peter Michael Foundation Communications

For mailing list members that have opted-in, the winery occasionally shares contact information, with The Peter Michael Foundation, in support of their groundbreaking efforts in prostate cancer research and patient care.  Members may opt-out of this program at anytime by logging into their mailing list account at www.petermichaelwinery.com and selecting “Manage Preferences”, or by contacting the winery directly at 800-354-4459 or pm@petermichaelwinery.com.  To learn more about the Peter Michael Foundation, please visit petermichaelfoundation.org.

Mailing List Program Overview

At Peter Michael Winery, we are committed to a limited production of high quality wines.  The winery offers wine each Spring and Fall to our mailing list members.  In advance of each release, members receive the details of their offering both by e-mail and US mail.  Member’s offerings are based on their length of participation in our program and buying histories. Due to our small production, we are not able to offer all wines to all members.  Our wines sell-out completely upon release.  As a result, no wine is available for purchase outside of our scheduled releases.

Ordering

Our releases are conducted on a first order processed, first order filled basis.  Quantities are limited.  Offerings are not guaranteed. Please order early to avoid disappointment.

Ordering Online is Preferred – Orders placed in our online store are processed immediately by our system. To expedite your order, please click on “Mailing List Login” at www.petermichaelwinery.com.   If you prefer to fax or mail your order, please complete your order form in its entirety - including your birth date, delivery address telephone number, and e-mail address. This helps eliminate delays. Missing information and expired credit cards will impede the processing of your order and/or put at risk the safe delivery of your wine.  While we will still gladly accept orders via phone, fax and conventional mail, we no longer recommend these methods because of the transmission time and processing delays inherent in them.

Sales Tax

Appropriate sales taxes and fees will be applied to shipments as required by state and local tax authorities in the following states:

AZ, CA, CT, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, ME, MD, MI, NV, NM, NY, NC, ND, OH, SC, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI and WY.

Payment

The winery does not process your credit card at the time the order is placed.  We will charge your card when your order is being finalized and forwarded to our shipping warehouse.  This may be as much as eight weeks in advance of the actual shipping date.  Regardless of the shipping date, all Spring orders must be finalized and paid in full by May 15, all Fall orders by November 15.  Payment for all orders must be in US currency.

Domestic Shipping

Peter Michael Winery orders are shipped from temperature-controlled facilities in CA. Many states have quantity limits in place. Our policy is to abide by all applicable state laws.  For all consumer-direct wine shipments, prior to shipping, the winery uses an outside service to verify legal compliance, and the age of the recipient.  The winery will not ship wine to any recipient that is not at least 21 years of age.

Shipping charges will be calculated automatically in our online store.  We have chosen the shipper with the best shipping record for your area. In most cases, this will be UPS 2-Day. Shipments within CA are sent UPS Ground.  If you have a preferred shipper or other special needs, please contact the winery directly at 800-354-4459 or pm@petermichaelwinery.com.

Alabama residents can only ship to an ABC store, and must provide an ABC Permit. This permit is available online at www.abc.alabama.gov.

Due to storage restrictions, it is not possible to arrange for pickup at the winery.  However, it is possible to arrange for pick-up at our fulfillment warehouse in Napa.  You may make this selection when placing your order online, or contact the winery for assistance at 800-354-4459 or pm@petermichaelwinery.com.

Domestic Delivery

We strongly recommend shipping to a business where someone over the age of 21 years old is available to sign for your package.  You must provide your e-mail address to receive shipping notifications.  Please let us know of any dates during which time no one will be available to accept and sign for your wine delivery.

Deliveries will arrive Tuesday through Friday. All packages will be labeled “Adult Signature Required.” Wine can only be received by a person who is 21 years of age or older with proper identification. In some cases, your shipment may arrive in two or more separate boxes. It is your responsibility to make sure someone is there to sign for the packages. We may delay shipments due to weather conditions observed from our end. 

Returns

Peter Michael Winery is committed to the production of high-quality handcrafted wines and your satisfaction is our goal.   All Peter Michael wines are stored in a temperature-controlled environment and are in excellent condition when they leave the fulfillment center.

Shipping Damage - Please inspect all packages as soon as they are received. Should any bottle(s) be broken during shipping, please email us immediately at pm@petermichaelwinery.com or call (800) 354-4459, so that we can pursue a claim with the shipping company.  Returns for shipping damage cannot be processed after 10 days.

In most cases, we will arrange to have the wine picked up. Please keep the original package and its contents exactly as you found them if at all possible.  Please understand that if the broken product cannot be retrieved, you cannot receive compensation for the loss.

Defective Wine - Any return claim due to a defect in the product will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.  The winery may replace the bottle or issue a credit if inventory is not available.  In some cases, the winery may offer replacement with a different vintage of the same wine.

To initiate a claim, please keep the bottle, its unused contents and the cork.  Wine or other items should not be returned without prior approval from the winery.  To process a return, contact the winery at (800) 354-4459 or pm@petermichaelwinery.com.  Please provide the following information:

     Customer name and address

     Date of Purchase

     Location of Purchase

     Product name and vintage

     Reason for concern

 

Refused Shipments

For all orders that are shipped and refused. the customer will be credited the cost of the product minus any and all shipping charges.

International Shipping & Delivery

If you wish to ship your order outside the US, please read this section thoroughly. Contact the winery directly if you have any questions at 1-800-354-4459 or 1-707-942-3200 or pm@petermichaelwinery.com.

Overview – Due to the legal and logistical complexities of shipping wine outside the US the winery requires mailing list members who wish to do so to accept responsibility for the management of this process.  Separate from your purchase of wine from the winery, you must contract separately with an appropriate shipping agent to handle both the logistics as well as all required documentation.  You will need to provide a means of payment to your shipping agent.  The winery cannot do this on your behalf.  Before entering into any agreement with a shipping agent, the winery recommends getting a written quote for all shipping charges as well as any applicable duties, taxes and other fees.

Shipping Destinations - At this time, we are accepting online international orders for Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, or the United Kingdom. If you would like to ship to another country, please contact us to discuss your options.

Shipping Agents - The winery's default shipping agent for all international orders is Aero Packing. If you specify a ship-to address outside the United States, our system will automatically flag your shipment for delivery by Aero Packing. Based on our special relationship with Aero, the winery will not charge you to deliver your wine to them. You are free to specify another shipping agent and provide their address as your ship-to address. In this case, our normal US shipping policies and charges will apply.

Most of our international customers use Aero Packing and are pleased with their services. For information on the details and costs of shipping to your country, please contact Aero Packing directly at (707) 554-2088 or via email at aeropack@napanet.net.

International Shipping Fees - Once delivered to Aero Packing or your chosen shipping agent, you are responsible for all additional shipping charges, as well any applicable additional duties, taxes or import fees applied by your customs office. Please expect to be billed separately by your shipping agent (Aero Packing or other) or the appropriate government agency for these charges.

Winery Responsibility - Once delivered to Aero or any US address of your choosing, the winery's responsibility for the safe transit and condition of your wine is concluded. Title passes to you at this point. You and your shipping agent assume all risk and responsibility from that point forward. You and your shipping agent are responsible for respecting all applicable US laws as well as all laws and regulations of the country into which you are importing the wine.
